Gently renovated, this 18th century house was decorated in a bohemian style that reflects the culture surrounding it, blending African and French influences.
Some of the old features were saved, and other were removed to make this contemporary home breathe with the magic of Arabian nights. Some walls were removed to make the home more spacious and inviting; the rest of the walls were white and all the spaces were well lit. The doorways were kept rounded to preserve the identity of the place. I love the idea of saving the existing wooden structures on the ceilings, which give a cozy rustic vibe to the décor. The floors are covered with concrete or Moroccan-inspired tiles, which isn’t only a perfect fit for the chosen style but also a good choice for a desert climate.
The furniture is a vintage and modern mix, a unique combo that pulls off the charms of the two countries. The owner also added African-inspired textures, pictures and ethnic prints. This traditional open hearth in the kitchen is adorable and it can be used for cooking! The firewood stacked under it on the floor looks so natural as if it’s a traditional Moroccan home. My favorite piece is a rough wooden dining table with minimalist white chairs that symbolize a merge of Eastern and Western cultures.
The style is a perfect blend of traditional Moroccan items and features and minimalist modern ideas.
Tiles on the floors are a good choice because they look traditional and work nice for a desert climate.
The bed in the master bedroom is placed onto a concrete platform, and an ethnic rug is a cool idea.
