Waiting for a little miracle? Then you are probably puzzling over a ton of things: what name to choose, what things to buy beforehand and how to decorate a nursery for the new family member. IKEA will save you! There’s no place where you can get new and simple furniture at a reasonable price, and don’t forget – these pieces are easy to hack! I’ve prepared some ideas of using IKEA items for a nursery, let’s have a look to get inspired.
Cots
IKEA features a whole bunch of cool cots: Gulliver, Stuva, Sundvik, Hensvik, Sniglar, Gonatt and their options with and without storage spaces. All of them are amazing for a contemporary space but still you can hack them if they don’t fit your space. Add various colors – just paint the whole cot or a part of it in the colors that fit your nursery. You may also add various details, for example, a frame over the cot, or even decorate it with fabric and other touches.
Changing Tables
A changing table is a must for every nursery, and you can easily make one if you have some IKEA pieces at hand. Grab IKEA Kallax, Expedit, Rast or Hemnes and create a cool changing table that perfectly fits your space. There are a lot of tutorials on the web, get creative and create something that you like – painting, re-painting, color blocking, covering it with wood and plywood or in any other way. The good thing about these items is that they feature much storage – drawers or open storage spaces, and you’ll need them a lot. You may also change their look, remove drawers creating open shelves or insert baskets instead of drawers, for example. Have fun!
Chairs
Every parent needs some chairs or a sofa to sit comfortably in the nursery for reading, relaxing and just having time with your kid. The most popular options here are Poang and Strandmon chairs, the first is very comfy and there’s a footrest if you need, the second is a comfy rocker, which is perfect for a nursery because rocking helps your baby to calm down and fall asleep. Choose a piece that you like and hack it if you need considering the style and colors of the room. Enjoy!
