The western shore of Lake Garda is characterized by its mild climate and richly cultivated landscape. David Chipperfield Architects has built a villa on the hillside looking over the resort town of Gardone Riviera, which was inspired by the famous limonaias – buildings where lemon trees are cultivated behind high walls. The building is carefully inserted into the landscape with its olive groves and cypress trees. The volume is divided into individual structures, which are offset to one another following the topography of the hillside. A private pool is located between the structures, it’s not big but very stylish. Behind the pergolas, timber-framed floor-to-ceiling windows provide extensive views over the Mediterranean landscape.
