Christmas is a bit far but I know that many of you start preparing for it beforehand to make it special. Today I’d like to discuss how to decorate your staircase in the best way possible using what you have at hand and how to create an amazing holiday feel with even the simplest décor.
Stairs decor is important as the stairs is usually in the entryway, and your family and guests will see this decor and feel Christmas at once. Or you will go downstairs from your bedroom and your stairs decor will raise your mood in a few seconds.
Banister Décor
Everybody usually decorates banisters because such décor doesn’t prevent from walking up and down. A garland is right what you need to make your staircase really festive, and here there are no limits, and you can give your stairs any look and style you want. Evergreen garlands are on top because they fit any style and theme; all you need to do is to add some lights to it and voila, your stairs are accentuated! Adding other things is up to you, these can be ornaments of all kinds, baubles, candle lanterns, stockings and wreaths if you want. Your garland can be made of fresh foliage and greenery of various types, of faux leaves and flowers, of burlap mesh and ribbon. Living in the south? Fill your home with aromas of eucalyptus, citrus and cinnamon hanging such a garland on the banister. If you want to keep it simple, there’s a great idea: just wrap your banister with a fir garland and add large bows on it. Or hang some colorful ornaments on the banister, no garlands are required for such a modern look. Wreaths hanging on the banister look rather eye-catching, and you can make them yourself to fit your style.
Steps Décor
Steps décor isn’t as traditional as banister décor but it looks unusual and eye-catching, and it’s great if your steps are large enough. Steps decorations may be lanterns, figures, gift boxes and even steps garlands, yes, you can place them not up but down. I love the idea for rustic spaces: galvanized buckets filled with evergreen branches, with cranberry and lights. Vintage enamelware with juniper branches and pinecones are amazing for shabby chic and vintage décor. Put candle holders or candle lanterns from IKEA right on the steps to light them up and enjoy!
