Cork as a material is currently on trend no less than natural wood, and there are many reasons for that. It’s warm, textural, durable, budget-friendly, eco-friendly, sound-proofing, easy to maintain and there are much more advantages to name. There are different shades and textures available, so you can even create patterns with it. We’ve already shared some ideas to cover floors or walls with cork, and today I’d like to keep on this topic with cork furniture and accessories for your home.
Furniture
Cork covered furniture is an awesome idea! Cork retains warmth and looks cool and textural like natural wood, besides, such furniture is budget-friendly. Today many designers create cork furniture: stools, ottomans, benches, desks, tables, chairs and sofas, for example, pay attention to IKEA’s Sinnerlig collection. This collection includes various modern furniture like benches, stools or tables covered with cork and with black framing to fit any modern space. There are more similar items by different designers, with white or colorful framing for a cool contrasting look. I totally love cork chairs or sofas with bold upholstery, they look very unusual. Actually, you can make such furniture yourself if you can craft at least a little and are ready to spend some time to make some cool modern furniture.
You can also find amazing pendant lamps of different shapes, you can use several of them together to create a composition. There are cork table lamps with copper and marble, such richness of textures is stunning. Durability of all these pieces is amazing, and you can not be afraid of spilling something on your cork table – it’s water-resistant. I also enjoy that warm look that reminds of natural wood but these items don’t cost as much as wood does.
Accessories
You can incorporate cork into your home décor with various accessories. Make or buy cool cork planters and pots for your plants, such pots look especially awesome with succulents and cacti. Cork pen and pencil holders of appropriate sizes can double as pin boards. Find amazing cork catch-all trays for your entryways or even jewelry trays of cork. The good thing is that most of such accessories can be easily DIYed of cork by yourself or maybe of wine corks if you have enough of them. Such accessories won’t break your budget but will make your space cozier and warmer. Get inspired!
