Frizi chaise lounge is a piece created for kids, it's colorful, functional and very inviting and is made of budget-friendly materials.
Moholy-Nagy University every year organizes school projects with the Hungarian Furniture Association involving a design to be launched on their open source design initiative. This year’s theme was ‘Kid’, which included learning, storing, and relaxing furniture pieces for 6-12 year olds.
Art and Design student Márton Hegyesi participated in this project and created Frizi, a cool children’s chaise lounge made from plywood and polyfoam, materials that are both cheap and easily accessible. The goal with open source design projects is that they don’t cost much money, supplies are not hard to find, and that they can be made by a skilled person or even at home via the free downloadable instructions.
Hegyesi decided upon polyfoam, as it’s a durable material that withstands the abuse of children and it’s a more affordable alternative to upholstery. Each component in the chaise can easily be removed and cleaned and put back together with little effort. Its compact size is perfect for children to be comfortable without taking over an area in your home. Plus, it’s pretty cool to look at, right?
