Eco-friendly designs and recycling is extremely important now to save nature. Pentatonic has collaborated with Snarkitecture to create a collection of modular furniture made from recycled waste: cans, computer parts and coffee cups. The collection is called Fractured and includes a modular bench and table.
The items are made of either recycled aluminium, or Pentatonic’s own Plyfix felt, which, up close, looks and feels like a soft wool-type material, despite the fact that it is developed entirely from old plastic. Each bench requires 240 plastic bottles, 45 aluminium drinks cans, 120 items of food packaging and four car bumpers. Each table is made using 1,290 cans, 140 food packaging items and coffee cup lids, and six car bumpers. The bench seat is made of Plyfix, a patented material of the brand that purifies the air.
Each item features a large crack down its center, splitting the piece into two parts – which the brand likens to “a child’s puzzle.” Either separated as two items or pushed together as one, the bench and table are stable and practical for use. Make a cool statement with these designs and take care of nature.
