If you wanna make your kids’ room special, rock some unique and bold decor. The idea we are sharing today is one of those: it’s a line of stone tile mosaics that celebrates the wonder.
KIDDO mosaics by Cean Irminger and New Ravenna are hand-fabricated from a host of hypnotic materials, including stone, brass, aluminum, shell, 24k gold, antiqued mirror, and jewel glass. The various designs each reference the surprise and delight of a new aesthetic experience, and, of a piece with the Wunderkammer motif, the compulsion to categorize and memorialize the sensation.
Cabinet of Curiosities references her own treasure trove of memory: “Arrow Rows” pays homage to Irminger’s arrowhead-collecting father; “Caroushell” evokes familiar maritime adventure; and “Tzarry Tzarry Night” is a fantastical fusion of Van Gogh and a “gilded storybook kingdom.” “Personal Space,” “Here be Dragons,” and “Subway” round out the series—each with their own evocations of adventuresome yet comforting childhood recollections.
The mosaics have multiple applications—from floors to walls, backsplashes to decorative tile surrounds. You may use them not only in kids’ spaces but everywhere else where you want to add a unique touch.
