Sculptural Whorl Console Of Concrete Canvas

Console tables are often used in entryways and in living rooms, especially in open layouts to separate the spaces. We are used to seeing wooden or maybe glass console tables that don’t catch an eye too much but this console table will! This Whorl Console is for those who have attention to detail and want even a console to catch an eye.

Neal Aronowitz created a console of flexible concrete cloth, to which he gave swooping shapes. This cloth is called Concrete Canvas, fabric impregnated with cement, which has previously been used to cover disaster-relief shelters. It’s resistant to wear, water and fire, its impact on nature is minimal. The designers decided to go for this material and give it a fluid form in contrast to the dense and heavy associations that we have with concrete.

The resulting furniture piece is constructed by folding the material back on itself in wide loops several times. This creates a slender but sturdy structural support, and elevated height, for the flat surface on the top. Such a console table is sure to turn your entryway into an edgy modern space.
