Having a small kitchen doesn’t mean that you can’t have a stylish decorated and very welcoming space. We’ve shared many common ideas to design a small space or nook but today I’d like to be more specific and share some smart ideas to create a cozy and comfy ambience in your small kitchen. Let’s have a look at the simple and genius ideas I’ve prepared!
Contemporary Decor
Contemporary aesthetics lets even a small space feel larger because it’s laconic and uncluttered. Such decor usually doesn’t include many details and items, which means that you’ll get beautiful kitchen design without making it smaller. Make sleek cabinets and countertops, don’t be afraid to add color to your kitchen rocking colorful ones. Think of creating a visual contrast between the cabinets or at least use some textural materials like wood, plywood, marble, stone and so on to give more interest to the space – having a contemporary sleek space doesn’t mean having a boring one!
Multiple Lights
The more light you have in some space, the bigger it seems – this tip always works and I think using it will make your kitchen not only visually larger but also more inviting. If you have large windows and maybe skylights, it’s ideal to fill your kitchen with natural light but you’ll also need some built-in lights, chandeliers or pendant lamps and I would strongly recommend having some lights on upper cabinets or along the kitchen backsplash to make cooking more comfortable.
Adding Color/Print
Many home owners tend to make their small kitchens too laconic and hence boring as they think that lighter shades are optimal and no clutter or decor is necessary. We recommend to go for some colorful touches and prints to make your space more interesting and welcoming and to raise your mood upon entering. A bold tile backsplash, a colorful rug, bold cabinets and even appliances will help you to achieve this effect.
Going All-White
An opposite idea, going all-white without any colorful touches, can be also nice and maybe more popular for those who love minimalism. Just make your kitchen more interesting with some marble, whitewashed wood or brick surfaces, give it a texture.
