Sometimes there’s literally no space for the baby – just a small space. How to handle it to make your child feel comfortable and how to get most of the space? Here are some tips that may be helpful if you are expecting a little miracle and don’t know what to do.
Colors And Prints
Choose a light color palette to make the nursery feel larger and brighter. Keep in mind that continuous color diminishes visual breaks, making a small space seem much larger. Paint the ceiling in light shades or even lighter than the walls. You may also go for a monochromatic color palette, it is also rather bright and adds interest.
Certain patterns add to the space, for example, vertical stripes add height, while horizontal ones add width, besides, they will add interest to the room. But don’t allow patterns and prints to overwhelm your space: use smaller patterned pieces and don’t place them too close to each other. Choose a clean, repetitive pattern that features no more than one or two colors, and be sure to break up patterned elements with large blocks of solid, neutral color.
Light
Make the space feel airy with natural bright: maximize the window size and let the light in. if you are going for drapes or curtains, buy sheer ones. Consider having several layers of light if possible to change it when needed or turn everything on for a spacious feel. Mirrors and glass will create reflecting surfaces to fill the room with light even more.
Furniture
Don’t clutter the room with furnishings – choose the most necessary items and place them. Go for foldable, flexible and multi-purpose furniture to save some space and make it more functional. Try large furniture pieces but fewer ones: this way you’ll avoid cluttering with tiny pieces. Choose lighter shades and clean lines and keep in mind that your child will grow and there should be still some space left. Use your walls, too: hang shelves, baskets, hooks and other items to save some floor space. Consider storing toys or out-grown clothing in rolling storage bins that can be hidden away under a crib or bed, and keep an eye out for other clever space-saving ideas, such as ottomans with hidden storage.
